Error due to corrupted data
This error can occur due to corrupted photos or videos stored locally in the Photo Library. In the case of corrupted photos or videos we would recommend manually adding the files to ibi and then removing the corrupted files from your mobile device photo library.
Error due to connectivity issues with iCloud
This error may occur when the photos or videos being backed up are stored on iCloud. If there are any connectivity issues with iCloud the download may fail resulting in the error "Some items failed to back up"
Possible solutions for "Some items failed to backup" due to iCloud connectivity issues
- Try the backup again later. There may be a temporary connectivity issue and trying the backup at a later time may resolve the issue.
- If not connected to a WiFi network ensure that you have enabled the option to use cellular data for Photos. Go to Settings > Cellular.
- Turn Airplane Mode on and off. There may be a connectivity issue and this action may help restore connectivity.
- Sign out and back in to your iCloud account. To sign out of iCloud go to Settings > Your Name >Scroll Down > Sign Out. You will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. After this go to Settings > Your Device and Sign in.
- Ensure there is adequate available internal storage on the iOS device. When a photo/video that is stored on iCloud is backed up the file must first be downloaded from iCloud to the internal storage of the iOS device before it can be backed up to your ibi. If there is not enough available internal storage for the file or files the download will fail and the file will not be backed up to your ibi. Large videos are typically the files that will cause this backup failure. Ensure you have at lease twice the amount of available internal storage as the largest video file on your iOS device.
- Ensure you have adequate battery level or turn off "Low Power Mode". In "Low Power Mode” some iCloud features may be reduced. To turn off low power mode go to Settings > Battery and toggle off “Low Power Mode”.
- Force close all running apps by double pressing Home button or swipe up from bottom (iPhone X) and swipe up on all apps.
- Restart your device.
