How does auto backup work?

The auto backup feature on Android and iOS will sync content from your mobile phone to ibi so that all the content on your device remains backed up and safe. If content from the mobile phone is added to ibi, and later deleted from ibi, the auto backup will add the same content back to ibi as long as it resides on the mobile device.

IMPORTANT: Deleting and reinstalling the app will force the backup of all content again.

  • ibi auto backup only happen when connect to Wi-Fi by default. You can enable cellular data in settings if you wish to have continuous backup (data rates may apply)
  • To get the most out of ibi auto backup, we recommend performing backup overnight with the mobile device plugged into power and with the mobile device on the same Wi-Fi network as the ibi device
  • The ibi app should be open during this process with the screen locked

iOS Mobile Phones

  • The backup of Photos & Videos located in the Camera Roll are supported
  • The Phone itself, apps, documents and settings are not supported by the Auto Backup feature
  • Content in iCloud will be backed up to ibi if iCloud backup is enabled and signed in on the mobile phone
  • Data transfer (auto backups) will pause if the screen is locked or the app goes into the background but the backup process will continue to run. When the app is brought into the foreground, data transfer will continue
  • Data transfer during the backup process may seem stalled or stuck when copying large video files. Please allow the backup to progress and do not delete the App from your device
  • Duplicate files can occur to prevent the loss of content when the backup job is paused an restarted

Android Mobile Phones

  • The backup of Photos & Videos located in the photo gallery and added storage are supported when "Backup Other Folders" is selected as an option on the auto backup configuration screen.
  • The Phone itself, apps, documents and settings are not supported by the Auto Backup feature
  • Auto backup will not start automatically when the phone is rebooted. Please open ibi App to continue auto backup after a reboot
  • Newer versions of Android OS can put the device in battery saving mode, during which time the auto backup will stop, but will resume once the device is in active state
  • Duplicate files can occur to prevent the loss of content when the backup job is paused an restarted
