Duplicate pictures, videos and other content can appear in ibi when there are:
- copies of the same content with different names in the same folder / location. The ibi Web App can be used to view the file location details. Please reference How to view the file name, location and details on ibi
IE: IMG-000001.JPG and IMG-000001(Copy1).JPG
- copies of the same content with the exact same or different file name in different locations. The ibi Web App can be used to view the file location details. Please reference How to view the file name, location and details on ibi
- IE: When the content is located on the mobile phone, autobackup is enabled, but the same content is also located on social media and cloud such as Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.. and being imported into ibi.
- ibi mobile app autobackup is enabled with duplicate photo's still residing on the mobile phone or iCloud. The duplicates are deleted from ibi, but autobackup is enabled and will autobackup the duplicate photos again. For more details, please see How does autobackup work?
Duplicate content can be manually deleted using the ibi Web or Mobile app. However, the content will return unless the source of the duplicate is located and disabled. IE: Turning off Social Media and Cloud Import or disable autobackup.
Please see How to Determine the Source of Duplicate Photos on my ibi to learn more about where your duplicate photos may be coming from.
NOTE:
Duplicates (copies) of files are not created when adding them to an album. You will be able to see the file in two locations but it is not a copy. You are actually viewing the exact same file.
Please see Why are my Photos Deleted from an ibi Album to better understand how albums and file deletion work.
