Add content via ibi desktop app for macOS 11 Big Sur
Here's how to add photos, videos, and other files on macOS 11 Big Sur using the ibi desktop app:
- Download and install the ibi desktop app for macOS 11 Big Sur
- Reboot to enable extensions used by ibi Desktop to allow the mounting of the ibi drive
- Open the ibi desktop app or locate the ibi app icon in the system menu
- Click on it and select "Open in Finder"
- You'll be taken to your ibi device in Finder
- Select the content from your macOS computer on your desktop or hard drive and drag it into your ibi device (or an ibi sub-folder)
IMPORTANT
- A reboot is required to enable the extensions used by ibi Desktop to allow the mounting of the drive. If "Not Now" is selected, the drive will NOT mount and the computer MUST BE REBOOTED!
- ibi may not be available for access through the Desktop App if using Acronis True Image Active Protection on macOS. The Acronis Active Protection may need to be disabled to access ibi with the ibi Desktop App. For more information please refer to Acronis True Image Knowledge Base Article: 58297: Acronis Active Protection: Exclude Program Folders and Executables
Apple Mac path to exclude: /Library/Application support/WDDesktop.App/contents/resources/kdd/*
- Duplicate content may be seen in the photo view when adding content to ibi. For more information, please refer to Duplicate pictures and content in ibi
- Content added to ibi may not be sorted by date, time or year. For more information, please refer to Photo and Videos not sorted by date, time and year
- Thumbnails may not be generated for all content type. For more information, please refer to ibi Supported file types and HEIC files transferred using ibi Web App, Desktop App, or USB import show no thumbnail and show unsupported format
- ibi Web and Mobile app cannot open certain files types. For more information, please refer to File type is not supported "open in" message
